A letter to the opposition party.........

Respected leaders of the opposition party,

Humbly, I place before you my observations of the economic situation our country finds herself in. The Indian economy though growing at 6-6.5% pa every year, is under tremendous stress--- not just because of the global recession and the immediate problems in Europe, but also because of the political situation in our country. No legislation's are being passed-- and the situation is extremely grave. Corruption, Inflation and the intermittent increase in interest rates are affecting the business environment in our country.

The situation is pretty grave-- and the world is slowly but surely losing confidence in the ' India Story'. We need to get our affairs back in order. The economy is clearly in a state of policy paralysis and the government has clearly faltered in every direction. In such a situation, what has been the role of the opposition parties people abroad ask me. I honestly believe that opposition parties have succeeded in letting people know on how badly the government of the day is functioning. With the help of the media, they have made a common man understand how the government has faltered. But is the role of the opposition party the best it can possibly be??

NO!! Its not and it is far from being the best. The opposition party also has to ensure that apart from its political goals, it needs to understand the needs of the country. Otherwise, in the overall scheme of things, i don't see its performance any better than the current government. To become a political party that can win power in the next general elections, it needs to ensure that innumerable legislation's that are pending are passed and government functionary is not affected. Just to score some political brownie points, if the oppostion parties play dirty politics, then i'm afraid they are equally guilty as the government of the day is. For instance, bills such as Companies Bill 2009, Life Insurance amendment bills, GST, Pension Fund and the land acquisition bill 2011 among others are all yet to be cleared by Parliament.

As a citizen of this country, I pray that each of the opposition party's leaders review each and every bill and pass them on its merits. The country will salute those leaders who help the country grow. No one will remember the crazy slogans raised by politicians in the Parliament. What they will remember, however, is the contribution of the opposition party that is sometimes as important as the role of the government is.

In 1992- Manmohan Singh led the liberalization movement- NDA under Atalji carried on the path of growth- Congress Govt created more opportunities under UPA 1--- Can the opposition parties be remembered in history as those leaders who made a difference in the Indian political story??

Only time will tell i guess.

Yours Respectfully,

Indian Citizen.

I AM ASHAMED!!!

I AM ASHAMED!!!

Yet another Terrorist attack! Yet another condemnation!! Are we fed up yet??? or should more  happen???

As an Indian, I am not proud any more. How can anyone expect me to be? We have a bunch of Jokers running this country. Manmohan, Sonia, Chidhambaram, or even the self acclaimed ' leaders' from the opposition parties such as Advani, or Ravi Shankar Prasad..( just incase they accuse me of being anti- Congress) are simply not fit to Run a country with a billion plus population. Will these bunch of cartoons get a job in any large corporate house as a CEO or MD. Except Manmohan, i Don't think anyone else could. With their existing qualifications, none of them would be able to run a corporate house- and here they are running a country. Its a shame!!!!

I can hear Jayanti Natarajan squeaking away to herself, as she does a number of times on News channels, stating how, if one had a problem with the system, one should join Politics and change the system. My only point to her-- Jayanti, i'm not qualified to run the country, so i won't. Neither are you. Can you quit. But you won't. Just because you won a election, you feel like you own us. NO YOU DONT! Just as we have the right to elect you, we also have the right to say you guys suck at your jobs...and believe me, most of you are awful.

The other point that Jayanti keeps making on NEWS channels is, how the Congress led government has the Mandate to run the country for the period of Five years since they have won a election, is simply rubbish. Make a note of this Jayanti-- Yes, the people of India elected you guys to lead us. Not destroy us. And if you guys are out there doing just that, don't expect a Anna Hazare to sit quietly and not do anything about it. We are not Fools!!!!

Lets take the case of a corporate house, in which the MD finds one of his senior employees corrupt. What will his actions be?? First, Investigate. Second place him under suspension. And if he is found guilty, then he will be terminated. Will the MD wait for the shareholders to point this fact to him? No he wouldn't. What the hell was Manmohan waiting for , with Raja and Maran and Kalmadi and all the others. He says compulsions of  Coalition Polictics. I tell him Shut up!!

Lets take the case of Yesterdays Bomb Blast in Mumbai. So similar in reaction to the previous one's we have seen from these idiots in power...Its like they have a manual-----
Step 1: Announce the attack to the media. ( we already know about the attack, IDIOTS- You should  probably realize by now, that we have twitter users updating the attack faster than the same information reaches your pea sized brain.)
Step 2: Condemn the attack( Like it freaking made a diff. People Died...Have you ever lost someone to a bomb blast...maybe your son, your daughter....??)
Step 3: Strong statements such as we will surely bring the guilty to books.( Really now?? Kasab is still alive and kicking isn't he??)
Step 4: Blame Pakistan( WOW!! Now thats new!! Assholes, have some balls and do something about it...apart from sending a wrong list to them...that is!)
Step 5: Forget about it!!!( you guys do this the best! None of your loved ones died...did they?)

Its Shocking to see Kasab still alive and kicking.....I mean, we have the US which lost 3000 people in the WTC attacks and killed over a million and one OSAMA to avenge that...and we on the other hand, lose a million to Terrorism every year, and we blame our Legal System for keeping KASAB alive. Kasab, is more secure than we are...its a fact!!!!!

Big words, Tall claims is all what we do when faced with an adversity. Not once have we shown any aggression towards Pakistan. Have you ever wondered why? Is it because we have a weak armed force? Or we just don't care about a loss of life. So much to learn from rest of the world. One loss of life is so much more to them then a million lives back home. So insensitive. So screwed up!

Solution: Get rid of the multi-party Democracy. ...Its a dangerous statement to make,i realize that, but i say this with full conviction.  Democracy is a wonderful institution to run a country, but a country such as our's, with a billion plus population, with a selfish group of people at the helm of affairs, and with as many political parties as the number of seats in our Parliament, will never work.

Two party system may work the best in our country. A very similar setup  is prevalent in the oldest Democracy of the World- USA. The other important lesson we need to learn from the US is the accountability that every political leader lives with. For Instance, the President of the United States has a weekly approval rating published by large Media Houses. What this does is keep the President on his toes every day of the week, speak more often to the media and explain every decision that he takes for the Nation. And if the approval rating goes too far below, expect the president to make a lot more speeches to explain to people his decisions, or plans etc.

Imagine if the concept of Approval ratings existed here in India. The congress Led government 's approval rating led by Manmohan Singh would probably be negative.

I AM ASHAMED!!!!

A Neta's secret diary

" Bhaiyon aur behnon. It's hot. By that, i don't mean the mercury rising mercilessly around us. I mean the anti-politician venom spreading in society, as sour as lassi gone bad. People are breaking into fasts on every available street corner, or lighting candles at national monuments before making anti-politico statements. Why just grown-ups, even children seem to stare with hatred at my white Ambassador with its lovely red light and posse of personal security. It's almost like we politicos don't have feelings! But we do. You may not believe it, but we're hurting pretty badly right now. Don't let our blank countenances, our sarcasm-laden comebacks or our topi-topped blitheness fool you. Deep down under we too have hearts which, as the great Diana Ross sang, can be broken.

Ok, i grant you, this 1G, 2G, haan ji, na ji business over scams and skims has been rather heavy this time. But don't blindly believe grossly inflated reports of this scam exceeding the annual health budget, that swindle topping the education budget. Considering these sectors get peanuts anyway, what's the big deal if a con does exceed them? And hey, with every larceny comes a grand time. Which other kind of political animal gives you all the fun we do, with our crackling nightly TV debates, our escapades on motorcycles through Uttar Pradesh, our line-ups before swami-bearing jets in Delhi? Be fair, not square. You're blessed with the world's most colourful entertainers as your politicians. The more vivid among us, like Lalu ji, entertain each time we open our mouths. The subtler of the species, like Sushma ji, say it with a shake of the hips at Rajghat. And the thrilling, like venerable home minister PC ji, simply sign with a stick. How much we toil for our electorate, i.e. you. We stepped in and stopped Anna Hazare from fasting to death, even if it meant listening to all that silly Lokpal blather thereafter. We then wisened up and took the next potential faster-unto-death for a lovely five-star ice-cream. How were we to know he'd turn round faster than you could say 'pranayam' and bite the hand that fed him chocolate sauce! And then, for all our efforts, we take your shoes too. At press briefings, so they're not even remotely designer. Yet do we complain? But we still get animosity. It's not fair. Imagine, if instead of us, your khadi-buddies, you had a bunch of sour jholawalas or dour generals ruling the roost. What kind of TV would you get? Long lists of statistics with debates over what Tolstoy said to Marx in 1922? Or some deadly army-type whose reply to questions would be, "I could tell you. But then, I'd have to kill you." Therefore ladies and gentlemen, while cussing also count your blessings. You'll find we're part of them.

India- Australia Frenzy!!!!

Cricket is a religion here. The entire office came to a stand still on precisely the minute Zaheer got hold of the new ball and the prayers started swinging between this office and that stadium.

That is the grip this game has on us. Well most of us at least and there is nothing new in it here. But even then to see a Corporate office with customers walking in and out jam packed to the LCD is quite weird.

As I sat, trying to juggle my emotions between trying to make a sale to my customers and Munaf getting hit by Haddin I noticed, I was not alone in this cricket crazed phenomena that some say, is evoked only in T20.

Consider this: A conference room with 10 chairs seating 30. Normal for India you say? 5 security personnel in the room gulping the match with their eyes. Still all right? Another 5 attendants listening to the commentary on one tiny radio because it was faster than the TV, and announcing a wicket even before Ashwin had begun his short run-up to Watson.

So as I found myself in the middle of all this, thoughts of my father ( My Boss), cricket and this blog (yes, in that order) and I couldn't be blamed for half-expecting my dad to peep out of his cabin for a score update. "If we win this, we'll play Pakistan," said a knowledgeable man all of a sudden, sitting half way across the room. Of course Sachin's form looked like taking us home to Mohali. But then came the Gambhir-Yuvi chemistry and the entire room went into a sudden coma. "See, now they will throw the game away," said the same genius.

It wasn't meant to be though as Yuvraj proved the law of averages incorrect and smashed his way to victory. That the Aussie bowlers helped him was somehow comforting to all the members present in that room. They, rather we, bonded together over a game of cricket, much like Harsha and Navjot did in the post match show. And just for the record, my father has decided his cabin should have an independent LCD set and has asked me to ensure one is set up before the India-Pakistan Match. As for me, I will return to my desk to keep the scores, stories and features kicking in on mayurspatil.blogspot.com . Sachin-bless, oh I mean, god-bless all.
